The Research & Development Division has created new values in the education of children based on the development of innovative products, and is involved in the ongoing development of advanced learning materials.

Taking another step forward from the development of comprehensive study books and children's book collections, the Research & Development Division is broadening the horizon of its research and development to encompass single-subject study books, after-school learning materials, English-language learning materials, and home school programs.
Moreover, the division keeps up with changes in the education environment by devising new strategies in the development of multimedia products and online contents. Woongjin Think Big's research and development has always been at the forefront of the children's education and publication sector in Korea. Through the export of copyrights and international publication awards, Woongjin Think Big has helped to raise Korea’s international status.

Research & Development

The Research & Development Division is structured to engage in research and development of collections, study books and English-language learning materials.

Through coordinated cooperationbetween each design team within the division, superior products aimed at developing children’s abilities are created. Moreover, outside imprints are used to develop products to fully accommodate the customers' needs.

With the vision of becoming the world's best editor and designer group, the Research and Development Division is driven by 100 research and development personnel, and the very best learning materials are created through collaboration with freelance specialists. Approximately 80 collections have been produced based on the company’s management philosophy of “Good Education, Great People”, while in 2008 the premium knowledge-boosting program Dachaek was released to provide children with the ideal reading education to optimize cognitive development at each stage of their growth.

The fruits of such endeavors came in the form of the Ragazzi Award for 'Patjuk Lady and the Tiger' from 'Stories Told by a Kerosene Lamp’, and the Illustrator of the Year Award for 'Ivan and his Magic Pony' and ‘The Necklace of Princess Fiorimonde' from 'Totori World Classics' at the 2004 Bologna International Children's Book Fair.

Moreover, 'Time Machine: Korean History' was awarded the 3rd Korean Publication and Culture Grand Award in 2006, leading to wider recognition of Woongjin Think Big's dedication to publication.

Woongjin Think Big's study books are designed to engage children in creative learning throughout the problem-solving process. The 'Think Big' study book has been extremely well-received in the early childhood and elementary education market, taking first place in the category of study books in both the Korean Service Quality Index of the Korean Standards Association and the Brand Power Index of the Korean Productivity Center in 2004. It also won the Best Product Award in the early childhood study book category as selected by female consumers in 2005, and achieved 1st place in thecategory of study books in the Korean Consumer Satisfaction Report produced by the Korean Management Association Consulting Group in 2008.
